‘டோரதி’ எனக்கு கிடைத்த பொக்கிஷம் – சனந்த்

பல ஆண்டுகளாகத் தேடிய கதாபாத்திரம்… ரசிகர்களின் பாராட்டால் நெகிழும் நடிகர்!

ஒரு நடிகருக்கு திறமை மட்டும் இருந்தால் போதாது. அந்தத் திறமையை முழுமையாக வெளிப்படுத்தும் கதாபாத்திரமும் அமைய வேண்டும். அப்படியொரு கதாபாத்திரத்திற்காக பல ஆண்டுகளாகக் காத்திருந்த நடிகர் சனந்த்துக்கு, ‘டோரதி’ திரைப்படம் அந்த வாய்ப்பை கொடுத்திருக்கிறது.

கார்த்திக் சுப்புராஜ் இயக்கத்தில் வெளியாகியுள்ள ‘டோரதி’ திரைப்படத்தில் சுப்பு என்ற கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்துள்ள சனந்த்தின் நடிப்பு ரசிகர்களிடையே கவனம் பெற்றுள்ளது. படத்தின் டிரெய்லரில் ஆக்ரோஷமான உடல்மொழியுடன் அவர் தோன்றியதால், ஒரு முரட்டுத்தனமான கிராமத்து இளைஞர் கதாபாத்திரமாக இருக்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்பட்டது. ஆனால், படம் வெளியான பிறகு சுப்பு கதாபாத்திரத்தின் பல்வேறு உணர்வுகளை சனந்த் கையாண்ட விதம் அந்த எதிர்பார்ப்பை முற்றிலும் மாற்றியுள்ளது.

நடிகராக வேண்டும் என்ற கனவுடன் பயணித்த காலத்திலிருந்தே, தன்னுடைய திரைப்பயணத்தில் நீண்ட காலம் நினைவில் நிற்கும் ஒரு கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற ஆசை இருந்ததாக சனந்த் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

இதுகுறித்து அவர் கூறும்போது, “ஒரு நடிகராக வேண்டும் என்ற கனவுடன் பயணிக்கத் தொடங்கிய காலத்திலிருந்தே, வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் நினைவில் வைத்துக்கொள்ளக்கூடிய ஒரு கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற ஆசை எனக்கு இருந்தது. பல ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகும் அந்தக் கதாபாத்திரத்தை நினைத்து மகிழ வேண்டும் என்று விரும்பினேன். அந்த ஆசை ‘டோரதி’ மூலம் நிறைவேறியிருக்கிறது.

இந்தக் கதாபாத்திரத்தை எனக்கு வழங்கிய தயாரிப்பாளர்கள், இயக்குநர் கார்த்திக் சுப்புராஜ் சார் மற்றும் ஒட்டுமொத்த படக்குழுவினருக்கும் நன்றி. இந்தப் படத்தின் மீது நான் முழுமையான நம்பிக்கை வைத்திருந்தேன். அந்த நம்பிக்கைக்குக் கிடைக்கும் பாராட்டுகளாகத்தான் இப்போது ரசிகர்களின் வரவேற்பைப் பார்க்கிறேன்” என்றார்.

கதை கேட்ட அந்த நொடியிலேயே உருவான ‘சுப்பு’

‘டோரதி’ படத்தின் கதையை முதன்முறையாகக் கேட்டபோதே, சுப்பு கதாபாத்திரத்துடன் தான் உணர்வுப்பூர்வமாக இணைந்துவிட்டதாக சனந்த் கூறுகிறார்.

“கார்த்திக் சுப்புராஜ் சார் கதையைச் சொன்னபோதே அந்தக் கதாபாத்திரத்துடன் என்னால் ஒன்றிப்போக முடிந்தது. கதையைக் கேட்ட அந்த நொடியில் இருந்தே ‘டோரதி’ என்னுள் பிறந்துவிட்டது.

இந்தக் கதாபாத்திரத்தை வழக்கமான சினிமா பாணியில் உடல்மொழி மற்றும் செயற்கையான பாவனைகளுடன் வெளிப்படுத்த கார்த்திக் சார் விரும்பவில்லை. கதாபாத்திரத்தின் உணர்வுகள் இயல்பாக பார்வையாளர்களைச் சென்றடைய வேண்டும் என்பதில் அவர் தெளிவாக இருந்தார்.

மேலும், படத்தில் இருக்கும் மற்ற கதாபாத்திரங்களும் மிகவும் வலுவாக இருந்தன. குறிப்பாக ரிஷிகாந்த் மற்றும் கீர்த்தி சுரேஷின் கதாபாத்திரங்கள் படத்தின் முக்கிய தூண்களாக இருக்கின்றன. அவர்களது கதாபாத்திரங்களின் வலிமை, சுப்புவின் கதாபாத்திரத்தையும் இன்னும் வலுவாகக் காட்டியது” என சனந்த் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

‘இளையராஜா சாரின் இசை இந்தப் படத்தின் ஆசீர்வாதம்!’

‘டோரதி’ திரைப்படத்தின் தொழில்நுட்ப அம்சங்களையும் சனந்த் வெகுவாகப் பாராட்டியுள்ளார்.

“இசைஞானி இளையராஜா சாரின் இசை இந்தப் படத்துக்குக் கிடைத்த மிகப்பெரிய ஆசீர்வாதம். திரு சாரின் ஒளிப்பதிவும் படத்துக்கு மிகப்பெரிய பலமாக அமைந்துள்ளது. அவருடைய காட்சிமொழி, படத்தின் கதையை இன்னும் பெரிய அளவில் பார்வையாளர்களிடம் கொண்டு சென்றிருக்கிறது.

‘டோரதி’ எனக்கு ஒரு திரைப்பட அனுபவம் மட்டுமல்ல; ஆத்மார்த்தமான அனுபவம். இந்தக் கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்தது என் வாழ்நாளின் மிகப்பெரிய கௌரவங்களில் ஒன்று.

குறிப்பாக, ஒவ்வொரு வீட்டிலும் இருக்கும் அம்மாக்கள், சகோதரிகள் எனப் பெண்கள் எனது கதாபாத்திரத்தையும் நடிப்பையும் பாராட்டுவதைப் பார்க்கும்போது அந்த மகிழ்ச்சியை வார்த்தைகளால் விவரிக்க முடியவில்லை” என அவர் கூறியுள்ளார்.

“கிளைமாக்ஸ் காட்சி எனக்கு மிகப்பெரிய சவால்!”

படத்தின் இறுதிப்பகுதியில் சுப்பு கதாபாத்திரம் எதிர்கொள்ளும் முக்கியமான மாற்றம் தனக்கு மிகப்பெரிய சவாலாக இருந்ததாகவும் சனந்த் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

“படத்தின் இறுதியில் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட காட்சியில் சுப்பு கதாபாத்திரம் மிகப்பெரிய மாற்றத்தைச் சந்திக்கும். அந்த மாற்றத்தை நடிப்பில் கொண்டுவருவது எனக்கு மிகவும் சவாலாக இருந்தது.

அதுவரை சுப்பு கதாபாத்திரத்தைப் பற்றி நான் உருவாக்கி வைத்திருந்த அனைத்தையும் ஒரு கட்டத்தில் விட்டுவிட்டு, முற்றிலும் புதிய உணர்வுக்குள் என்னை கொண்டு செல்ல வேண்டியிருந்தது.

அந்த மாற்றம் செயற்கையாகத் தெரியக்கூடாது என்பதில் கார்த்திக் சுப்புராஜ் சார் மிகவும் கவனமாக இருந்தார். அந்த உணர்வை மிகவும் நுட்பமாகவும் இயல்பாகவும் அவர் காட்சிப்படுத்தியுள்ளார்.

திரு சாரின் கேமரா அந்தக் காட்சியில் இருக்கும் உணர்வுகளின் நுணுக்கங்களை அழகாகப் பதிவு செய்தது. அதற்கு இளையராஜா சாரின் இசை இன்னும் உயிர் கொடுத்தது. காட்சி, ஒளிப்பதிவு, இசை என மூன்றும் ஒரே இடத்தில் அற்புதமாக இணைந்த அந்தத் தருணம் என் நினைவில் எப்போதும் இருக்கும்” என்றார் சனந்த்.

பல ஆண்டுகளாக ஒரு நடிகராக தன்னுடைய முழுமையான திறமையை வெளிப்படுத்தும் வாய்ப்புக்காக காத்திருந்த சனந்த்துக்கு, ‘டோரதி’ திரைப்படம் அந்தக் கதவைத் திறந்திருக்கிறது. தற்போது ரசிகர்கள் மற்றும் விமர்சகர்களிடமிருந்து கிடைத்து வரும் பாராட்டுகள், அந்தக் காத்திருப்புக்கான மகிழ்ச்சியான பதிலாக அமைந்துள்ளது.

கார்த்திக் சுப்புராஜ் எழுதி இயக்கியுள்ள ‘டோரதி’ திரைப்படத்தில் கீர்த்தி சுரேஷ், சனந்த் மற்றும் ரிஷிகாந்த் ஆகியோர் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்களில் நடித்துள்ளனர். ஜோதி தேஷ்பாண்டே, குணீத் மோங்கா கபூர் மற்றும் அச்சின் ஜெயின் ஆகியோர் தயாரித்துள்ள இப்படத்திற்கு மேஸ்ட்ரோ இளையராஜா இசையமைத்துள்ளார்.

ஜியோ ஸ்டுடியோஸ் மற்றும் சிக்யா என்டர்டெயின்மென்ட் இணைந்து வழங்கும் இப்படத்திற்கு எஸ். திருநாவுக்கரசு ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்துள்ளார். கணேஷ் சிவா படத்தொகுப்பு பணிகளை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளார். சரவணன் சந்திரன் கூடுதல் திரைக்கதை எழுதியுள்ளார். பவன் நரேந்திரா நிர்வாகத் தயாரிப்பாளராக பணியாற்றியுள்ளார்.

‘Dorothy Is a Treasure I Will Always Cherish’ – Actor Sananth

A long-awaited role, a career-defining performance and overwhelming appreciation from audiences

For an actor, talent alone is not always enough. The right character is equally important to bring that talent to the forefront. For actor Sananth, Dorothy has turned out to be that much-awaited opportunity.

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Dorothy features Sananth in the role of Subbu. While the trailer created an impression that he would be seen as a rugged and aggressive rural character, the film has revealed several emotional layers to his performance, earning appreciation from both audiences and critics.

Having waited for years for a role that would allow him to showcase his abilities to the fullest, Sananth says Dorothy has fulfilled a long-standing dream.

“This is a dream come true for me. Ever since I began my journey aspiring to become an actor, I wanted to play a character that I could remember and cherish for the rest of my life. I always wished that years later, I would look back at a role and feel proud and happy about having played it.

I am extremely grateful to the producers, director Karthik Subbaraj sir and the entire team for giving me such a character. I had complete faith in this film, and the appreciation I am receiving now feels like a reflection of that belief,” said Sananth.

“Subbu was born within me the moment I heard the story”

Speaking about his immediate emotional connection with the character, Sananth said that he felt deeply connected to Subbu from the very first narration.

“When Karthik Subbaraj sir narrated the story to me, I immediately connected with the character emotionally. From the moment I heard the story, ‘Dorothy’ was born within me.

Karthik sir had a very clear vision. He did not want the character to be portrayed through conventional cinematic body language or artificial mannerisms. His intention was to make the emotions of the character reach the audience naturally.

The other characters in the film are also very strong, which in turn strengthened my character. The characters played by Rishikanth and Keerthy Suresh are pillars of the film, and their presence continuously elevated the impact of my character,” he added.

“Ilaiyaraaja sir’s music is a blessing for the film”

Sananth also praised the film’s technical aspects, particularly the music by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja and the cinematography by S. Thirunavukkarasu.

“Ilaiyaraaja sir’s music is a blessing for this film. Thiru sir has transformed the film through his visuals. His visual language has helped the film connect with audiences across both international and regional markets.

Dorothy has been a deeply personal and heartfelt experience for me. Playing this character is one of the greatest honours of my life.

In particular, seeing mothers and sisters from different households appreciate my character and my performance is something I cannot put into words. That response means a lot to me,” Sananth said.

“The climax was one of my biggest challenges”

Sananth also opened up about the major transformation his character undergoes towards the end of the film, describing it as one of the most challenging portions of his performance.

“There is a particular scene towards the end of the film where Subbu goes through a major transformation. Bringing that moment alive was a huge challenge for me.

Until that point, I had built a particular understanding of Subbu. For that scene, I had to completely let go of everything I had created for the character and surrender myself to an entirely new emotional space.

Karthik Subbaraj sir handled that transformation with great sensitivity and subtlety, ensuring that it never felt forced or superficial. Thiru sir’s camera beautifully captured the nuances of the emotions in that scene.

At the same time, Ilaiyaraaja sir’s music brought the scene to life. It was a moment where the visuals, cinematography and music came together beautifully. That scene will always remain special in my memory,” he said.

Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Dorothy stars Keerthy Suresh, Sananth and Rishikanth in key roles. The film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain.

The film features music by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, cinematography by S. Thirunavukkarasu and editing by Ganesh Siva. Saravanan Chandran has contributed additional screenplay, while Pavan Narendra serves as the executive producer.
